Better passwords in under a minute
Most account break-ins don't involve clever hacking. Someone reuses a password, that password leaks from an old website, and attackers try it everywhere else. The fix is boring but effective: a different, strong password for every account, kept in a password manager, plus two-factor login wherever it's offered.
These tools make the first part easy. Passwords are generated with your browser's built-in cryptographic random number generator and never leave your device.
- Password Generator creates random passwords with your own rules.
- Passphrase Generator makes several random words that are easy to remember and type.
- Password Strength Checker shows how long a password would hold out.
- Hash Generator gives MD5 and SHA checksums for text and files, handy for verifying downloads.
Which one do I need?
For accounts saved in a manager, use a long random password. For the few you must remember, such as the manager's master password, use a passphrase. To test a password you already have, use the checker with a similar example rather than the real thing.
